Initial treatments for electrical injuries typically include the ABCs of first aid (airway, breathing, and circulation) and immobilization of the spine in the event of hidden injuries that may not be immediately apparent. Severe electrocution injuries frequently necessitate skin grafts or other forms of reconstruction to replace damaged tissue. Some accident victims may require surgery to prevent amputation, correct muscle damage, or repair heart or other vital organ damage caused by exposure to high levels of electrical current.
